Opening of the Attila Lounge
The Hotel Bad Murtensee is the home base of the Attila Boutique Boatel. If you set off on a 6-day cruise across the three Jura lakes, you check in at the hotel on the shores of Lake Murten. The journey starts and ends at the historic hotel, which stands out with its proximity to the lake, renovated rooms, excellent cuisine and beach house with lake access. And the new Attila Lounge, which will be opening soon. An interview with Marcel Jörg, owner of the Hotel Bad Murtensee.
Marcel Jörg, the Hotel Bad Murtensee is an institution with a long history in Murten, can you tell us more about the hotel?
In fact, it is a house full of history, which was opened in 1750. In the beginning, it was complemented by a bathhouse right next door. The men were allowed to bathe there in the morning and the women in the afternoon (laughs). I've been running the hotel for two years now and have since given the building a total overhaul, both inside and out. Our latest gem is the Attila Lounge, which will be opening soon.
With its direct access to the lake, the hotel is the perfect partner for the Attila Boutique Boatel. What exactly does the partnership look like?
I also think that this partnership is a perfect fit, it's a win-win situation for both parties. The Hotel Bad Murtensee is effectively the home base of the Attila Boutique Boatel. We welcome guests before the trip with an aperitif in the Attila Lounge, where the cruise starts and ends. Cruise guests can also enjoy our excellent cuisine. We are responsible for the first and last dinner as well as the catering on board. Of course, guests are welcome to arrive or depart a few days earlier to enjoy the hotel (laughs).
There is now even an Attila Lounge in the hotel. How did you come up with this idea and who can enjoy this lounge?
The main aim is to celebrate this partnership in a fitting manner and to make this wonderful project visible and tangible in the hotel. The Attila Lounge is open to everyone, provided it is not rented out or the welcome aperitif for cruise guests is taking place.
What fascinates you personally about the Attila project?
It showcases the beauty of our region. I am convinced that people underestimate the charm and beauty of the 3-Lakes Region. I have often seen people from out of town surprised at how unique our region is. The interconnected lakes, the wine region, the pretty villages, our culture and history with its multilingualism. I am sure the guests will leave the boat delighted.
Have you already booked your cruise?
I don't particularly like the word cruise. It's associated with huge boats, pollution and mass tourism. The Attila is completely different, small, friendly and sustainable. It offers something for everyone, be it culture, gastronomy, nature or simply the opportunity to relax in fantastic surroundings. I have booked the Valentine's package and will be spending 3 days on the Attila with my wife in June. We are really looking forward to it!

What are your favorite places in the region/sealand, do you have any tips for excursions?
I'm often on the lakeside terrace at the plage de Boudry on Lake Neuchâtel. In summer, I like to eat a fondue there, which is a highlight. Of course, I can also recommend our hotel directly on Lake Murten. Enjoying an aperitif with friends by the water at sunset is unique.
What can visitors to the hotel look forward to in particular?
We have an excellent fish kitchen in the See la vie restaurant and are now also a member of the "Zum goldenen Fisch" dining society. Connoisseurs of good wine also get their money's worth with us. The Beachhouse on the shore of the lake is very cool for a beer or an aperitif in a relaxed atmosphere. If you want to do yoga, hire a SUP or go surfing, we are also the perfect place for you. Our hotel is also well-known for weddings, seminars or any other event. And of course, the hotel is the ideal departure and arrival point for guests of the Attila Boutique Boatel.
