A museum with a global reputation

From 1964, the construction of the A5 highway led to the ambitious and pioneering implementation of preventive archaeology in Switzerland. The corresponding research programs made it possible to identify and scientifically document countless settlements on the shores of Lake Neuchâtel. The "Laténium - Parc et Musée d'archéologie de Neuchâtel" was opened in 2001, is named after the La Tène site and preserves over half a million finds from the region. 3,000 selected objects are now on display in a permanent exhibition. A museum with international appeal that sheds light on the ancient cultures and peoples of the Three Lakes region.
